The International Art Forum «St. Petersburg Graffiti 2011: graFFFest» and the International Festival of Animation Arts "Multivision" hereby warmly invite you to take part in the animated film competition for best animation in graffiti and street art style: The way art can transform the contemporary urban environment. The competition will be screened outdoors in the center of St. Petersburg for tens of thousands of residents and visitors to the city. The screening is free of charge for the public.
Description of the project:
On the night of the 21st/22nd of August 2011, the best animated films in graffiti and street art style will be presented to thousands of people in the heart of St. Petersburg, along the Neva River. The half of the Palace drawbridge which faces the Hermitage will turn into the screen for graffiti animations; the screen will measure over 300 square meters, rising high above the city streets. GraFFFest project is the next step in the development of the public screens part of Multivision festival.
The International festival of animated arts, “Multivision”, held its first public screenings in 2007-2008. The unique project, which drew more than 50,000 spectators got the name “Small Cinema in the Big City”. In 2011 the biggest open air and free public “cinema theatre” in Russia, if not the whole world, will once again take place on the Neva River, and host a wide audience for the most progressive genre in contemporary art.

Requirements for films in competition:
Short films: duration max. 15 min. Completed in the last 5 years.
Theme: the way art can transform the modern urban environment
Techniques: animation (2D and 3D drawing, stop-motion, wall-painted, etc.), combined with live shooting is allowed.
Films submission format: DVD, Betacam SP, MiniDV, and quality media files sent online.
An application form available here must be sent with the film.
The competition is held under the regulations of the Multivision festival.
Applications and films must be submitted NOT LATER THAN the 20th of July 2011.
